Loss of Environmental Credibility?

Lately I have been looking at many websites a bit closer. It is almost an addiction. I can’t just navigate around a website, I have to critique the layout, useability, content… This is because I am currently building my own website so I am taking a lot more notice of all the websites that I visit.

One thing that I have noticed is that many companies have an out of date Environmental Policy on their website. Not just their Environmental Policy, it will usually be their whole suite of policies.

This seems a bit disappointing especially if I have just finished reading about how the company is so dedicated to protecting the environment and working towards a sustainable future. It is also a direct contradiction as your Environmental Policy establishes the foundation of the environmental commitment of your business.

Now I understand that this doesn’t actually mean that your Policy is actually out of date. It has probably been updated however it just hasn’t been uploaded onto your website. However, your website is the virtual hub of your business and is often the first impression someone will get of your company.

So my advice, please check that your Environmental Policy is up to date on your website to prevent a loss of credibility in regards to your company’s environmental commitment.

By the way please don’t judge my website; it is still very simple and currently there is no Environmental Policy. I am still working on my website and developing a policy that is fit for purpose for my business. However, when I do upload it I will make sure that it is kept up to date!
